Questions & Curiosities

A few practical details to set your mind at ease.

Questions & Curiosities

It is completely natural to have a few anxieties before stepping in front of a camera. My goal is to remove as much of that friction as possible so you can simply show up and be present with your family. Here are the answers to the questions I hear most often.

Questions & Curiosities

A few practical details to set your mind at ease.

What if my kids are wild and refuse to sit still for a photo?

Then we let them be wild. I do not expect your toddlers to sit stiffly with perfect, forced smiles. The Kindred Folk Cottage is about documenting the beautiful, breathing chaos of your actual life. If they want to run in the dirt, we capture the movement. If they are feeling shy and need to be held close, we capture the quiet tethers of that comfort. There is no pressure to perform, and there is no such thing as a "misbehaving" child during our session.

I want beautiful family photos, but I prefer to keep my children’s faces off social media. How do you handle privacy?

As a mother, protecting your family’s digital footprint is a priority to me. I have a strict privacy-first approach. If you prefer to keep your children's faces offline, I offer bespoke, hand-drawn line art illustrations that act as beautiful, artistic privacy overlays for any images shared on my portfolio or social media. Your private gallery remains untouched, but your public boundaries are completely respected.

What should we wear? Do we need to match?

Please do not match. When you book your chapter, I will send over the Cottage Wardrobe Guide to help you plan. We focus on earthy textures, comfortable layers, and clothing you can actually move, sit, and play in. Think linen, knits, and warm tones. The most important rule is that you feel completely comfortable in your own skin.

What happens if it rains or the weather is terrible?

If we are shooting outdoors and the weather turns truly miserable or unsafe, we will simply reschedule your session. However, if it is just a little moody, overcast, or breezy, I often encourage embracing it! Some of the most beautiful, cinematic stories are told under quiet, cloudy skies.

How long does it take to receive our archive?

In an industry where you often wait months for your memories, I do things differently. Your complete, hand-edited digital gallery will be delivered to your inbox within 14 days of our session. Shortly after that, your tangible print keepsakes will arrive in the mail.

Do you provide the raw, unedited image files?

I do not. A massive part of the story we are telling is crafted during the editing process. I spend hours color grading your gallery to ensure it reflects the warm, film-inspired, Shire-like aesthetic with deep, chocolate-brown shadows and golden light that you see in my portfolio. Handing over half-finished raw files would be like a baker handing you a bowl of flour and eggs. You are investing in the finished, tangible heirloom.
