The Ledger
Operational boundaries, privacy commitments, and legal agreements.
Introduction & Trust Foundation
To document your family’s most tender, chaotic, and honest moments, there must be a foundation of absolute trust. I believe in radical transparency. Below you will find the operational boundaries, privacy commitments, and legal agreements that protect both your family’s folklore and the livelihood of this cottage.
Section I: The Hearth & Kinship Agreement
When you secure your date, you will sign our standard Hearth & Kinship contract. This isn't just legal jargon; it is a mutual promise. It outlines what you can expect from me (unhurried storytelling, gentle guidance, and timely delivery) and what I ask of you (showing up as your authentic selves and embracing the beautiful mess of your reality).
Cancellations & Rescheduling Policy: Life, much like the weather here in Northern Utah, is unpredictable. If illness strikes or the weather turns genuinely unsafe, your retainer easily transfers to a rescheduled date. The specific timeline and terms for rescheduling are clearly detailed in your booking proposal so there are never any surprises.
Section II: Privacy & Your Digital Footprint
Archiving your family’s history is a profound privilege, and I am fiercely protective of your privacy.
- Model Releases & The Public Archive: I love sharing the stories we create, but only with your enthusiastic consent. Your contract includes an image release section where you dictate your comfort level.
- The Privacy Overlay: If you prefer to keep your children’s faces off social media entirely, I fully support that. I offer bespoke, hand-drawn line art illustrations to place over children’s faces for any public portfolio use. Your public boundaries are respected, while your private gallery remains completely untouched.
- Gallery Security: Your digital archives are hosted securely through Pic-Time, ensuring that only you—and the kinfolk you explicitly choose to share your link with—can view or download your high-resolution files.
Section III: Copyright & How to Share Your Story
When I deliver your gallery, you receive a personal print release. This means you have the freedom to download your images, print them for your walls, create your own albums, and share them on your personal social media pages.
Because the artwork is a product of The Kindred Folk Cottage, the overarching copyright remains with me. This simply means you cannot sell the images, use them for commercial business promotion without a separate commercial license, or alter the final artwork (please, no adding heavy social media filters over the chocolate-brown shadows and golden light we worked so hard to create).
Section IV: Financial Stewardship
As a registered domestic limited liability company in the state of Utah, I operate entirely above board.
- Secure Transactions: All booking proposals, contracts, and payments are handled securely through HoneyBook.
- Sales Tax: In compliance with state law, the standard 7.25% Utah sales tax is applied to all photography services and physical print products. This will always be clearly itemized on your final invoice before you sign, so you never experience hidden fees.
